The Chief Security Officer(CSO), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Wing Commander Umar Mohammed Awe (Rtd), has assured the Lokoja Study Centre of his desire to make the centre safer and secured.
He made the assertion when he visited the centre in Kogi State for an on- the-spot assessment and to address the security challenges across the study centres nationwide.
The CSO, who during the visit addressed the security unit on issues bordering on theft and challenges with the host community, also informed them that he has been mandated to evaluate the centre towards keeping it safe.
Awe assured that perimeter fencing would be raised, solar flood lights and a barb wire extension will also to be installed, even as he muted the idea of CCTV for a better secured environment.
He commended the security operatives for always keeping the centre safe and advised them to do more because security, as he said, was for all to take seriously; both management and staff of the centre.
While welcoming him to the centre, the director, Dr. Bridget Yakubu, appreciated the visit and the insights toward addressing the security lapses.
The director commended the CSO for bringing to bear his experiences on the centre's security situation and ways to mitigate such in the future.
The director seized the opportunity to also take him round the exams halls for a tour of the centre
