The Deputy Vice- Chancellor, Administration, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Isaac Sammani Butswat, has commended the Plateau State government for its effort in prioritising education.
Butswat made the remark during a facility tour alongside the state's Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Mrs. Kachollom Pyam Gang, to the proposed NOUN Study Centre in Mangu Local Government Area of the state.
The DVC showed satisfaction with the structures already on ground and expressed confidence that the project would be completed within the stipulated time frame.
He further applauded the efforts of the Plateau State Government in prioritising education.
The thrust of the visit, according to a press release signed by Jeremiah Dakahap, the media aide to the Executive Chairman of the local government, was aimed at inspecting the site allocated by His Excellency, the Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mannaseh Mutfwang, for the establishment of a NOUN study centre in Mangu.
This development, he added, is expected to bring education closer to the people of Mangu and its environs as well as provide opportunities for economic growth and development in the area.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Mrs. Kachollom Pyam Gang, commended the governor for his commitment to education.
She assured that the state government would do everything possible to ensure the completion of the project and provision of necessary equipment within the shortest possible time.
On his part, the chairman of the local government, Hon. Emmanuel Bala Mwolpun, who played host to the duo,
expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Governor Mutfwang for choosing Mangu as the location for the university.
He commended the management of NOUN and assured them that the local government would provide all necessary support to ensure the successful take-off of the institution.
