The Management of Obagaji Community Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Agatu Local Government Area, Benue State, has taken advocacy campaign to the Motorcycle Riders Association Office of the local government.
The advocacy campaign by the centre was to create awareness about the university’s presence in their domain and to enlighten them of the academic programmes and the benefits of studying with NOUN.
The advocacy team, led by the Acting Centre Director, Mr. Baba Usman and his staff, educated their potential clients about the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode of education championed by the university.
The director's desire for the advocacy campaign was to lure both literate riders, passengers, business men and women in the area to take the opportunity and study with the university being a full-fledged degree institution.

The campaign, which is the brainchild of the centre director who personally led the sensitisation visit to the association within the catchment area of the study centre, was organised in a bid to boost enrollment of students at the newly-opened study centre.
Shortly after the director educated them about the importance of studying with NOUN, such as its cost effectiveness, age not being a barrier, studying at your pace and time, and the programmes that the university offer, they were amazed and had a positive response.
The Chairman of the Motorcycle Riders Association, Mr. Edo Samuel, in his response, expressed excitement about the visit and assured the advocacy team of attracting members of the association to take the opportunity NOUN offers to enroll into the institution.
The visit ended smoothly, even as grey areas asked by the hosts, were satisfactorily addressed by the centre director, while flyers and NOUN advocacy items were distributed.
