Professor Isaac Bustwat, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has been conferred with a series of prestigious awards by the Chronicle Business School and its affiliate institutions, in recognition of his outstanding service in academia, leadership, and peace advocacy.
The event, held in the NOUN headquarters in Abuja, saw in attendance the representatives of the Chronicle institutions, where Professor Bustwat was inducted as a Fellow of the Chronicle Business School (CBS). Alongside the Fellowship, he was also appointed as a Board Member of the Chronicle Magazine, a platform known for thought leadership in academia, business, and governance across Africa and beyond.
In addition, the Chronicle Institute of Advanced Security Studies, in collaboration with the United Nations Peace Ambassador program, conferred on Professor Bustwat the title of Ambassador of Peace.
Speaking after receiving the honor, Professor Bustwat expressed gratitude to the Chronicle institutions for the recognition and dedicated the awards to NOUN’s academic community, while pledging to continue advancing education, peace, and development in Nigeria and internationally.
“This is a call to greater service, which I accept with humility, and I remain committed to excellence in administration, scholarship, and peace-building,” he stated.
Professor Bustwat affirmed his dedication to upholding the values of the Chronicle Business School, contributing to the growth of the institution.
“This fellowship is not just a recognition of my efforts but also of the collective dedication of my colleagues and the entire NOUN community,” he said.
Earlier in his remarks, Associate Professor Godwin Nyitse, founder of the Chronicle Magazine and a key partner of CBS, described the awards as historic and symbolic of global recognition for Professor Bustwat’s years of dedication.
He commended Professor Bustwat’s commitment to leadership, scholarship, and service to humanity, noting that his contributions have been closely followed and deeply admired for over 15 years.
“Today, you are not just receiving medals and certificates, but you are being entrusted with the responsibility of shaping leadership and advancing peace at a global level,” Professor Godwin said.
