OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE MANAGEMENT OF THE NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA (NOUN)

The attention of the Management of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has been drawn to several social media reports and publications making the rounds attempting to cast aspersions on the integrity of the ongoing process for the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor.

Management views these reports with utmost concern, especially as they appear to be targeted at maligning the character of one of the candidates under consideration. Such actions are not only inappropriate but also capable of undermining the credibility of a process that is being diligently conducted in accordance with extant rules and procedures.

We wish to categorically state that the appointment process is being handled by the Governing Council of the University with strict adherence to due process, transparency and in line with the relevant regulatory guidelines. The University remains committed to upholding the highest standards of fairness and integrity throughout this exercise.

All staff and stakeholders are therefore enjoined to disregard any unofficial narratives or social media publications on the matter. We urge everyone to allow the Governing Council to complete its assignment without distractions, undue interference or the spread of unfounded allegations that could jeopardise the process or tarnish the image of the University.

The Management remains resolute in its commitment to protecting the sanctity of the institution and ensuring that the best outcomes are achieved in the overall interest of NOUN.
