The Coordinator, Southeast Conference Marking Zone of the National Open University of Nigeria(NOUN), Prof. Banikole O. Ogunleye, has charged the examiners to follow due diligence in the marking of students'scripts as peoples' lives are tied to the outcomes.
Represented by the former Dean, Faculty of Law, NOUN, Dr. Ernest Ugbejeh, Prof. Ogunleye made the charge while briefing the examiners during the 2025 _2 conference marking exercise in the Southeast Zone in Enugu State.
While underscoring the importance of adhering to the rules and regulations guiding the exercise, Ogunleye also said that only examiners with Ph.D degree are eligible to participate in the conference marking.
Prof. Ogunleye also took time to brief the subject officers drawn from the nine (9) Faculties of the University, charging them to demonstrate a sense of commitment for the overall success.
He implored the markers to be meticulous and thorough, adding that examiners are expected to follow point by point awarding of exam scores.
Ogunleye employ the markers to take accurate records of the number of scripts given to them so as to correspond with what they would be returning back.
While welcoming the examiners at the event, the Centre Director, Prof. Charity Akuadi Okonkwo, represented by the Coordinator, Southeast Incubation Centre, Associate Prof. Loveth Ekwueme, said the exercise is a national assignment and demanding, adding that examiners who may not give the conference marking the maximum attention it deserves are kindly advice to decline.
She added that the Centre is ready for the exercise and promised to provide the necessary materials and support to ensure a hitch-free exercise.
