The management of Sapele Community Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Sapele, Delta State, in its renewed drive to make known the goodness of Open and Distance Learning (ODL) as a potent mode of instructional delivery within its catchment area, recently took its advocacy campaign to the headquarters of Sapele Local Government Area Council as well as the Office of the Delta State Agency for the Control of Illicit Drugs and Child-trafficking.
The advocacy team led by the Acting Centre Director, Sapele Community Study Centre, Mrs. Mary Udemagwuna, was warmly received by the Chairman of the Local Government Council, Honourable Bright Abeke.
Udemagwuna, while commending Abeke on his efforts to transform the local government and empower its people, explained to him the operations of NOUN and the need to encourage staff members of the Council as well as all citizens of the local government area to take advantage of the presence of the University in the locality for human capital development in order to enhance rapid development of the council area in particular and Delta State in general.
The Acting Director also urged the local government chief to graciously stamp the presence of the Local Government Council in the University campus by investing in infrastructural and facility development of the Study Centre.
Abeke, while thanking the university administrator for her visit, acknowledged that the presence of NOUN in the Local Government Area is a visible blessing to the people of Sapele and its environs.
He promised to encourage the council staff and people of Sapele to take advantage of the affordable and flexible nature of the University to improve on their academics and career development, adding that he would look into the request to stamp the presence of the local council at the Study Centre within available resources of the Council.

Pastor Omasan Mabiaku, thanked Udemagwuna and her team for visiting his office and promised not only to encourage his members of staff to enrol for programmes at the Study Centre but also to explore areas of possible collaboration with the University in the efforts of the agency to rid Delta State of the menace of illicit drugs and child-trafficking.
