The Vice-Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma, has directed the recall of Dr. Silvanus Ogbonna, a senior lecturer and the exam officer at Nsu Community Study Centre to return to the faculty, citing “ineffectiveness.”
Prof. Uduma, in continuation of his series of unscheduled visits to various study centres to monitor the ongoing Pen-on-Paper examination, found Dr. Sylvanus Ogbonna involved in an unethical conduct at the Ezeoke Nsu Community Study Centre in Imo State.
Consequently, the Directorate of Examination and Assessment, in a memo, titled: "Recall from the 2026_1 POP Examination Duty at Nsu Community Study Centre," signed by its Director, Prof. Usuji Uchenna S.A. and dated May 15, 2026, recalled the exam officer from the ongoing exercise.
The memo added that "Accordingly, you are to return to your Faculty with effect from Saturday, May 16, 2026.
"You are also expected to refund the balance of your Duty Tour Allowance (DTA) paid to you for the assignment to the university accordingly."
The directive, according to the memo, was for immediate effect.
While speaking on the matter, the Vice-Chancellor implored all staff of the university to protect and preserve the sanctity of NOUN examinations.
The VC charged all staff at the centre, as well as others nationwide — from security to the Centre Directors — to strictly observe examination protocols.
While maintaining discipline at all times, Prof. Uduma urged staff to treat students with care and give them the attention they need throughout their academic journey at NOUN.
