The Anambra State Chapter of the National Open University of Nigeria Alumni Association (NOUNAA) has donated a canopy to the university’s Awka Study Centre to support student activities and improve facilities at the centre.
The donation, made on Monday, September 14, 2026, was led by the chapter’s representative, Mr. Nwankwo Samuel.
Speaking during the presentation, Samuel commended the Centre Director, Dr. Bibian Ugoala, for her inclusive leadership, commitment and exemplary disposition, which, he said, had contributed significantly to the stability and growth of the centre.
He noted that the development of the centre was a collective responsibility and explained that the donation was part of the association’s efforts to support the welfare of students and their families during major university activities.
According to him, the canopy would provide shelter and a more comfortable environment for students, families and other guests attending events such as orientation and convocation ceremonies at the centre.
Responding, the Centre Director, Dr. Ugoala, expressed appreciation to the Alumni Association on behalf of the University Management for the gesture.
She described the donation as a demonstration of the association’s commitment to the development of the centre and its support for the University Community.
Ugoala, while expressing hope for continued collaboration, humorously noted that, like “an Oliver Twist”, the centre looked forward to receiving more support from the Alumni Association.
She commended the Anambra State Chapter for its contribution and encouraged other stakeholders to emulate the gesture in supporting the growth and development of NOUN Study Centres.
