Ibrahim Assumes Duty as New Director of Dutse Study Centre

The immediate-past overseer of the Dawakin Kudu, Gabasawa and Kwachiri Community Study Centres in Kano, Dr. Al'Hassan Ali Ibrahim, has assumed duty as the new Director of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Dutse Study Centre, Jigawa State.

His appointment followed a recent staff redeployment by the University Management, which also saw the predecessor, Dr. Ahmad Mahmood Tanimu, redeployed to the Dawakin Kudu Community Study Centre as Director.

Speaking with NOUN News shortly after the handover ceremony in Dutse, Dr. Ibrahim expressed appreciation to the University Management for the confidence reposed in him and the opportunity to lead the centre.

He pledged his commitment to advancing the goals and objectives of the university under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Uduma Oji Uduma.

Dr. Ibrahim identified increased student enrolment as one of his key priorities, stressing the need to deploy effective strategies to enlighten and educate members of the public on NOUN’s programmes, mode of operation and the benefits of open and distance learning.

He called for the cooperation and support of staff, urging them to work collectively towards achieving the university’s objectives and strengthening the centre’s operations.

The new Director also stressed the importance of dedication and commitment to duty, noting that staff had a shared responsibility to contribute to the growth and development of the university.

He further called for the support of the centre’s staff in building on existing achievements and sustaining the progress already recorded.

The Director also acknowledged the experience of the outgoing Director and expressed his readiness to seek his guidance whenever necessary.

In his remarks, Dr. Tanimu thanked the University Management for the opportunity to serve as Director of Dutse Study Centre and for entrusting him with another responsibility at the Dawakin Kudu Community Study Centre.

He pledged to continue giving his best to the advancement of the university in his new capacity.

Dr. Tanimu urged the staff of Dutse Study Centre to extend maximum cooperation and support to Dr. Ibrahim, stressing that their collective efforts would be crucial to the success of the centre and the university as a whole.
