In its quest to project the university to the general public, the Director, Mani Community Study Centre, Katsina State, Mr. Shamwil Bala Salisu, has led a team to the Mani Local Government Education Authority.
The centre, which was recently established, has geared its incipient efforts towards familiarisation with stakeholders to sell the university to the public for possible consumption.
Representative of the Secretary, Local Education Authority (LEA), Alh. Bishir Ahmad Machika, along other directors and senior staff of the authority received the NOUN team
Briefing them on the purpose of the visit, Salisu discussed the historical trends of the university from 1983 to date, as well as the admission procedure, requirements and the mode of instruction delivery.
He said all programmes run by the university have the National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation, adding that NOUN certificate is acceptable like any other university in the country and beyond.
Teachers in the local government and its environs do not need to go for any in-service training again, as NOUN can train them while they are still at their duty post without leaving a vacuum, the director stated.
In his response, the representative of the secretary, thanked the centre for the visits and appreciated NOUN for considering them as one of the most important place to showcase the opportunities of the university, targeting especially the primary school teachers.
Machika assured the director that the LEA is ready to partner with the university in the areas of staff training.
He particularly expressed happiness for the plan by the centre director to visit every primary school in order to have an interactive session with the teachers,
“This will no doubt enable the teachers to have a first-hand information about the university,” said Machika.
The visit drew its curtain by entertaining and responding to the questions raised by some of the directors and staff of the LEA.
