Funfair as NURTW centre holds end of the year party

As part of its efforts in appreciating and celebrating members of staff, the Special Study Centre for the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), on Saturday, December 17 2022, held an end of the year party.   

 The colourful event, specifically geared towards staff familiarisation in a more relaxed and a joyful manner outside the confines of work environment, presented an opportunity for them to unwind with families and friends.

It featured certain fun activities, dancing competition that were capped with presentation of gifts to the best staff of the year; best staff for the month of November and December 2022, among others.

The centre director, Mrs. Patience Abimbola Adeniyi, in her opening remarks, stated that the initiative to hold the event was part of the centre's strategies to make the working environment more conducive and flexible for staff.

The outcome, she posited, will surely boost their productivity for the overall interest of the university.

Adeniyi also noted that it was important to celebrate the people who have sacrificed a lot to keep the work at the centre going.

More so, the event was capable of encouraging friendly relationship and strengthen the bound among the staff.

"I am happy because wherever you have people that love each other, share nothing but love, hospitable, there will be happiness in such place'," she added.

While acknowledging the love and support she enjoys among her staff, the director added that “I am blessed because a tree does not make a forest. When I look back and see that I have people with pure heart, very hard working staff, dedicated, committed that can do anything for the progress of the centre.

“I am happy that we are here to celebrate after all the tension of the work loads."

She took time off to highlight the important roles the staff played in the preceding year.

"I am happy to be surrounded with such staff and I can confidently and comfortably say that Garki centre is the best in the university," she said.

Adeniyi therefore emphasised on the centre's commitments to sustaining the initiative,  saying that her wish is "that come 2023,  the centre would celebrate in good health."
