Ex Kano Rep offers N7m scholarship for constituents’ study in NOUN

The immediate-past member representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Shaaban Ibrahim Sharada, has offered seven million naira scholarship to 35 students under his Educational Initiative Support to his constituents.

Sharada officially handed over the N7 million cheque for the registration of the 35 students at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) to the Director, Kano Study Centre,  Mr. Mudassir Ahmad Ishaq, alongside the Director, Fagge Community Study Centre Dr. Ali Ibrahim Alhassan and Daha Tijjani of the Business Administration Department.

Speaking at the occasion, Sharada, who was recently announced as the pioneer Executive Secretary, Almajiri and Out of School Children Commission of Nigeria, used the occasion to express his gratitude for the opportunity to perform duties  as the executive secretary of the new commission.

He assured of his continued support to the education initiative, saying that he was confident that the general development of the constituency through the provision of the scholarship and grant would be sustained by his successor, Engr. Sagir I. Koki.

The money, according to the ex-lawmaker, will cover one session and the remaining registration will be paid late based on individual performance in the first session.

He therefore enjoined the students to utilize the opportunity to read hard and actualise their dreams as the exercise is a continues one.

In related development, Sharada also paid another N50 million scholarship to the students of the constituency studying at Alqalam University, Katsina.

Responding, the Kano Study Centre director, Mr. Muddassir Ahmad Ishaq , urged the students to fully use the chance given to them as it would be an eye opener for others  to enjoy in the near future.

The director further appealed to the students to shun all kinds of bad attitudes in the course of their study with the university even as the sponsored students were presented with their admission letters.

At the occasion, there were representation from the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offenses (ICPC) and the Nigerian Boundary Commission.
