A team of staff from the Abeokuta Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), led by its Director, Dr. Oyekunle Adegboyega, has visited the Olowu of Owu, HRM Oba Prof. Saka Adekola Matemilola for an advocacy visit.
The visit by the team, according to the centre director, was to solicit assistance from their host to encourage his subjects to enroll into the institution.
Adegboyega and his team who were warmly received by the Owu monarch and his chiefs added that they were at the palace to also pay a courtesy visit as well as to advocate for the ongoing academic activities such as enrolment for admission at the study centre.
The director highlighted that some benefits of the university as an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution, which makes education accessible to every interested individual.
In his reaction, HRM Matemilola inquired about NOUN's teaching methods in which the director clarified on the use of online tutorial classes from both NOUN academic staff and the external lecturers for practicals.
Impressed by the response, the monarch promised to promote NOUN's programmes and suggested an upgrade of the palace library for students’ access.
At the end of the visit, the director conveyed greetings from the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters and his management members to the monarch.
