The Fagge Community Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) in Kano State, had witnessed a leadership change where Dr. Kamalu Alkasim relieved Mr. Ibrahim Shehu.
The formal transition ceremony, which took place at the centre in Kano, was brief and colourful.
Mr. Shehu, in his hand over remarks, appreciated the dedication, hardwork and focus of the entire staff of Fagge Community Study Centre toward realisation of the mandate of the NOUN.
He commended the university management and the entire staff of the centre who created an environment conducive to achieving notable successes as director.
Shehu encouraged the staff to replicate the same gesture for the benefit of the incoming director so as to promote continuity.
Speaking shortly after receiving the mantle of leadership, Dr. Kamalu Alkasim emphasised the need for staff’s collective collaboration and support in order to achieve the university’s stated vision and mission of providing comprehensive, flexible, accessible, affordable quality Open and Distance Learning education to all Nigerians.
He reiterated his commitment to increasing students enrollment and retention through comprehensive and robust advocacy strategies.
Alkasim, therefore, expressed his gratitude to the university management for entrusting him with the mandate to lead the centre as its new director and appreciated the trust placed in him by promising to steer the centre towards greater heights.
