The Association of Nigerian University Registrars (ARNU) has announced that it will hold its 4th Annual Workshop and 79th Business Meeting from Monday, July 6 to Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the National Universities Commission (NUC) Headquarters, Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama, Abuja.
The six-day event will bring together registrars from federal, state, and private universities across Nigeria, a statement by ARNU's Public Relations Officer on Friday, July 3, 2026.
A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the association, Atinuke Oguntunde, said that the meeting will deliberate on critical issues shaping university administration, governance, and sustainable development in the nation's higher education sector.
The workshop is themed, "Nigerian Universities in the Era of Technological Transformation: Challenges, Opportunities, and Pathways to Sustainable Growth."
It is designed to examine how Nigerian universities can effectively respond to rapid technological advancements while leveraging emerging opportunities to enhance institutional efficiency, innovation, and global competitiveness.
According to the statement discussions will focus on key issues affecting the university system, including - The Nigerian University System in the 21st Century: The Paradox of Funding and Autonomy; Nigerian Universities as Catalysts to the Success of the National Data Protection Programme: Challenges, Expectations, and Prospects; Managing Nigerian Universities: Perspectives from the Seat of a Vice-Chancellor; and Advancing Performance Systems for Sustainable Growth in Nigeria's Ivory Towers: A Paradigm Shift to a New Era.
The workshop will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, and technical sessions to be delivered by renowned scholars, experienced university administrators, and policy experts.
Among the distinguished speakers expected at the event are the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu; the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia, Prof. Mohammed Musa Kida; the immediate-past Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi; the National Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, Dr. Vincent Olatunji; and the Chief Executive Officer of Edusage Consult Ltd., Dr. Florence Oluchi Sunny Ibeh.
On the other hand, the 79th Business Meeting will provide members of the association with an opportunity to review its activities, adopt key resolutions, and set strategic priorities aimed at advancing university administration and governance in Nigeria.
The annual gathering underscores ARNU's commitment to promoting excellence in university administration and strengthening institutional capacity to support sustainable growth and development across Nigeria's higher education system.
