The Chief Security Officer (CSO), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Group Captain Umar Mohammed Awe (Rtd), has said that the university has zero-tolerance for examination malpractice.

Awe stated this on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, when he arrived Uyo on a 2-day working visit to Uyo Study Centre.

He revealed that the purpose of his visit was to monitor the ongoing 2025_1 e-exam and to address other security challenges at the centre.

On his arrival, the CSO mapped out measures to ensure both a smooth conduct of the examinations and a conducive learning environment for the centre.

Awe, who was warmly received by the Centre Director, Dr. Edwin Bassey, and other senior members of staff of the centre, advocated for peaceful coexistence between members of staff and students to enhance the realisation of the aims and objectives of the university.

He praised the director for his dogged efforts in maintaining orderliness in the conduct of the ongoing e-examinations and promised to support the centre in ensuring that all security needs are met.

The CSO reminded the security personnel and other members of staff that the university has a policy of zero-tolerance for examinations malpractice, adding that anyone caught engaging in malpractice would receive maximum or standard punishment meted by law without minimisation, special treatment or plea bargain.
