The Faculty of Health Sciences, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has held a combined practicum supervision for the students of 300, 400 and 500 levels of the Department of Public Health from the study centres of Kaduna and the Nigerian Air Force Base.
The event, held at the Kaduna Study Centre multipurpose hall, was chaired by Dr. Florence Uchendu of the faculty’s Department of Public Health Sciences, who commended the management of the centre for successfully hosting the event.
Uchendu, who acknowledged that Kaduna Study Centre was the first centre she visited for the practicum supervision, urged the students to focus more on their studies as the university will no longer condone a laissez-faire attitude.
She warned that there is no level of irregularities and cheating that can make anyone succeed in his academic pursuit in the university, stressing the utmost need of hard work, commitment and determination for them to success in NOUN.
The supervisor informed the congregation of the public health students that the university has since started an online facilitation, which is compulsory to all the students, as only those that participated can access their TMAs.
She warned the students to desist from paying or hiring mercenaries to do their TMAs and enjoined them to always do their practicum and as well TMAs by themselves.
Earlier in his remark, the Director, Kaduna Study Centre, Dr. Aminu Umar, said the university is growing bigger and qualitative under the abled leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters. “Quality is his main priority.”
On the challenges of results, Umar said the supervisor has provided a remedy for the centre and the students to avert the challenges of the exercise’s missing results.
The director informed them that the university is changing for good and urged them to take all the programmes with seriousness.
While turning to TMA, the director warned against the manipulation of TMAs at the business centres as the university has developed a software to detect the misconduct.
Umar then demonstrated the log-in procedure to get connected to the online facilitation forum.
