Ikorodu Model Study Centre holds sensitisation for new students

The Management of the Ikorodu Model Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has held a 2-day sensitisation workshop for the newly admitted students of the centre between Wednesday, 22nd and Thursday, 23rd March, 2023.

On the first day, the director of the centre, Prof. Saheed Ajibola, presented a paper, where he discussed a brief history of the institution and the establishment of the Ikorodu Model Study Centre.

The new students were informed about the mode of operation of ODL system of education and all that would be expected of them to come out with success at the end of their studies.

Ajibola also presented to them the numerous advantages of being a student in NOUN, as flexibility, cost effectiveness and closeness to the locality are the unparalleled.

He urged them to go out and propagate the gospel of NOUN to all and sundry.

The second presentation was made by the Principal Assistant Registrar, Mrs. Bukola Edun, who also discussed extensively on the admission process and registration procedure, advising them to make sure they complete their registration before a closing date.

The last presentation of the day was delivered by the Chief Accountant, Mr. Oyewole James, who explained how to load money into the portal, stressing that every payment must be generated from the student's portal, even as he advised students to always make sure they save their remita number.

On the second day, the programme kicked-off with the director offering his opening remarks, before giving way to the Head of Information Technology, Mr. Peter Olajimbiti.

Olajimbiti instructed the students on how to log-in to their portals, how to open their NOUN email addresses, how to access the e-learn portal to do TMAs and participate in facilitation.

On his part, the Director, South-west Incubation Centre, Dr. Jamiu Amusa also graced the occasion by giving a brief overview of GST 302, and notified them that they would glimpse more of him when they get to the 300 level. 

Some Ikorodu indigenes: Prof. Ajetumobi and Engr. Esuroso were in attendance and bestowed words of encouragement to the students.

The faculty heads were also presented to the new students, who, in turn, asked questions and satisfactory answers were given.
