The Lagos Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has held its first health and advocacy walk for the year 2022.

The centre director, Dr. A.T Akujobi, expressed joy at the response of staff who turned out en-masse for the walk and bystanders who joined in as well.

"The whole idea is for us to burn away fat, be healthy and let people know that there is a university at their doorstep, which is NUC accredited, flexible and affordable," she said.

The walk was coordinated by the 4-man sports committee of the study centre, led by Mrs. Adebukunola Soile- Balogun, who put the event together for the wellness of staff members.

"The walk is to promote health and fitness of staff members of the centre, and at the same time create awareness about the university," Soile-Balogun said.

The event was a huge success, people were attracted by the colourful uniforms and music, prompting some to make enquiries about NOUN and the programmes offered.

Officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) were deployed to ensure compliance with traffic laws and also coordinate the movement.

A mix of English, Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa and Pidgin English was used to educate people about the school.

The walk started from the gate of the study centre to Adetokunbo Ademola street, down to Saka Tinubu via Adeola Odeku and back to the centre.
