The new Director of the Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Dr. Amos Iliya, has taken over the reigns of leadership of the centre from its former director, Prof. Aminu Umar, in Kaduna
Speaking shortly after the brief handover ceremony, Iliya said for everything that has begun must have an end, acknowledging that “the day we are experiencing a begining and we should be reflecting that a day is coming that we will be handing over“
The new director appealed to his predissesor for maximum support and cooperation to be able to steer the centre in the right direction.
"I used to tell my Director at the RETRIDOL that I am one staff that have many appointment letters in my journey as a civil servant.
"Right from Primary School as a teacher, Secondary School as a teacher, College of Education, where I served as the Director of Consultancy Services, Niger State University, Foreign Affairs as Director Research and Documentation then NOUN," he said.
He further explained that in his journey he has seen a lot of handovers notes but described this latest one as more comprehensive.
Dr. Iliya thanked Professor Umar for all he has done through his years to see the growth of CHRD.
The centre, according to him, is a directorate and the university expected to see a lot from His predecassor, who has done his best.
He, on behalf of the entire staff of the centre, sincerely appreciated Prof. Umar for his stay at CHRD and for the experience he brought onboard and how he managed Issues.
He added that during his interaction with the Vice-Chancellor, he has shown willingness to improve the system which is the target of every leader.
"Since he is willing, I want to say that we should also be willing to do our best so that at the end
we will all be happy for it.
"The VC said to me ‘go and make impact’ and I want to see this impact within the shortest time possible, which cannot be achieved without contribution of all the staff.
In his speech earlier, Prof. Umar welcomed the new director and explained some of the transformations recorded under his stewardship as the director.
