The Directorate of Advancement and Linkages, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has held a strategic meeting with the Alumni Association (NOUNAA) in preparation for the launch of its dedicated online portal to boost members’ engagements.

The digital portal was designed to boost the growth and efficiency of the association and will provide alumni with seamless ways to engage with their association members and conduct.

In her remarks during a meeting held on Friday, February 21, 2025 with the NOUNAA executives, the Ag. Director, Directorate of Advancement and Linkages, Prof. Ganiyat A. Adesina-Uthman, stressed the importance of launching the portal before the upcoming convocation to enhance operational efficiency and transparency.

She also underscored the need to revive the university's endowment programme, emphasising that this could be achieved through active engagement with distinguished alumni across various sectors in the country.

Adesina-Uthman urged the NOUNAA executives to identify and collaborate with prominent alumni to support endowment initiatives of the NOUN that would contribute to the university's long-term development.

She urged NOUNAA Executives to ensure that the digital platform is judiciously employed to bring alumni up-to-date on developments at their Alma mata.

The NOUNAA president, Ambassador Kingsley Obukwelu, while congratulating Prof. Adesina-Uthman on her appointment, highlighted the significance of the forthcoming portal, which is currently in its final development stage.

He emphasised that once launched, the platform would serve as a centralised hub for alumni interactions, featuring a secure and transparent payment system, as well as automated reminders for membership dues and fees.

Obukwelu noted that the portal would simplify the registration process for alumni, enabling them to update their personal profiles and maintain active membership within the association.

Additionally, it will provide a personalised user experience, allowing members to track their contributions and engagement with NOUNAA over time, he added.

Commending the efforts of the university's software development unit, the NOUNAA president expressed gratitude to the head of unit, Mr. Sule Onuh, and his team for their dedication in designing and supporting the portal's development.

Once fully operational, the platform will ensure a smooth payment process and foster greater alumni involvement, the meeting revealed.
