The Chairman, Governing Council, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Emeritus Prof. Peter Akinsola Okebukola, has been bestowed with an Outstanding Role Model Award by the Hallmarks of Labour Foundation (HLF).
His selection, according to the organisers, is in recognition of his outstanding contributions in the field of education, which has set him apart as a great Nigerian role model.
The award was conferred on him during the 26th anniversary and award ceremony of the foundation held on Saturday, December 17,2022, at the Grand Ball-Room, Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Okebukola, was awarded alongside 12 others.
In his response, the NOUN governing council chairman appreciated the vice-chancellor, Prof.Femi Peters, and the management of the university for felicitating and identifying with him.
Representing NOUN management at the event were Prof. Isaac Butswat (DVC Admin), Mr Oladipo Ajayi (Registrar), Prof.Rotimi Ogidan (McCarthy Study Centre Director), Dr.Alero Akujobi (Lagos Study Centre Director) and Mr. Adeboye Adewoyin (Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor).
HLF was conceived and birthed against the backdrop of increasing decay in societal moral fabrics, dishonest practices and inept management of public affairs by successive governments.
The HLF award is organised to identify and honour men and women of repute who by wide acclaim are considered worthy of being role models in their various categories
