The Directorate of Human Resources of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has witnessed a smooth leadership transition following the formal handover of duties by its former Director, Dr. Muyiwa S. Akintola, to the new Acting Director, Mrs. Doris Nzenwa.
The handover ceremony, held on Monday, September 21, 2026, marked the end of Dr. Akintola’s tenure as Director of Human Resources and the commencement of a new phase of leadership for the Directorate.
The occasion also provided an opportunity to acknowledge Dr. Akintola’s contributions to the growth and development of the Directorate during his tenure.
His tenure was marked by a commitment to effective human resource administration, staff development and the advancement of institutional objectives.
Following the transition, Dr. Akintola has assumed duty as Secretary of the Postgraduate School, where he is expected to bring his administrative experience to bear on the coordination and support of the university’s postgraduate programmes and operations.
Mrs. Doris Nzenwa, who assumes office as Acting Director of Human Resources, brings considerable experience to the new assignment.
Before her appointment, she served at the Regional Training and Research Institute for Distance and Open Learning (RETRIDOL), where she contributed to training and capacity-building initiatives.
The transition underscores the university’s commitment to institutional continuity, effective succession planning and efficient leadership across its various administrative units.
Staff of the Directorate expressed optimism that Mrs. Nzenwa’s appointment would further strengthen its human resource management functions and enhance its contribution to the university’s strategic objectives
