The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has joined the Oxonia University Network, an international academic platform aimed at strengthening institutional partnerships, capacity building, and global visibility in higher education.
The Vice-Chancellor of NOUN, Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma, received the university’s Oxonia Membership Certificate from the President of the Oxonia University Network, Professor Abdullahi Ribadu, at Said Business School, University of Oxford, United Kingdom.
It may be recalled that the Vice-Chancellor, along with other principal officers and directors, is currently attending an AI training session at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
The development marks a significant step in NOUN’s efforts to expand its international academic engagement and create opportunities for collaboration with higher education institutions worldwide.
The Oxonia University Network, a subsidiary of the Oxford City Academy for Education and Development (OAED), UK, is an international academic affiliation platform that connects institutions committed to advancing education through innovative teaching, research and international partnerships.
Membership of the network offers participating institutions opportunities for academic collaboration, staff and student exchange programmes, access to global educational resources and training, and engagement with other member institutions worldwide.
For NOUN, the affiliation is expected to strengthen its institutional capacity, broaden its international connections and enhance its visibility within the global higher education community.
As an institution dedicated to expanding access to higher education through open and distance learning, NOUN stands to benefit from opportunities to exchange knowledge, share best practices and explore collaborative initiatives with institutions in the network.
The development also aligns with the university’s broader efforts to strengthen its academic standing, improve the quality of its programmes and position itself for greater participation in international educational initiatives.
The Oxonia University Network has attracted the interest of universities seeking to expand their international reach and build strategic relationships beyond their national boundaries.
NOUN’s entry into the network is therefore expected to provide an additional platform for advancing its internationalisation agenda, strengthening staff development and creating new opportunities for academic engagement.
The membership underscores the importance of international partnerships in building institutional capacity and improving the visibility of Nigerian universities in the increasingly interconnected global education landscape.
