The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has matriculated 36 inmates of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos State, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to higher education and promoting the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates into society.

The matriculation ceremony, held on Friday, October 16, 2026, marked an important milestone for the newly admitted students, who have embraced education as a pathway to personal development and a more promising future.

The 36 matriculants comprised 25 undergraduate students, nine master's degree candidates, and two doctoral students pursuing Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programmes.

Addressing the gathering, the Controller of Corrections, Lagos State Command, Daramola George, congratulated the students on their admission and urged them to take full advantage of the educational opportunity.
