The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Gombe Study Centre, has presented a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons.) degree certificate in Development Studies to Mr. Babayo Adamu Sa’ad, a graduate with special needs.
Mr. Sa’ad, who is deaf and physically challenged, successfully completed all the academic requirements for the award of the degree.
Presenting the certificate, the Centre Director, Dr. Adamu Bappah, described the achievement as a testament to NOUN’s commitment to providing accessible, flexible and inclusive higher education opportunities to all Nigerians, regardless of physical challenges.
Dr. Bappah commended the graduate for his determination and perseverance throughout his academic journey, noting that his success demonstrates the university’s dedication to supporting learners with special needs.
Members of staff of the Gombe Study Centre later joined Mr. Sa’ad in a brief photo session to celebrate the milestone. They praised his resilience and steadfast commitment to achieving his educational goals despite the challenges he faced.
Mr. Sa’ad’s accomplishment highlights the opportunities available through NOUN for persons with special needs to pursue and attain their academic aspirations, reinforcing the university’s role as a champion of inclusive education in Nigeria.
