The Pro-Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), His Excellency, Mallam Isa Yuguda, has paid a courtesy visit to Enugu Study Centre, Enugu State, to interact and obtain first hand information about the challenges of the Centre with the aim of mitigation.
Mal. Yuguda, accompanied by member NOUN Council, Dr. Goddy Ettah, were warmly received by the Centre Director, Prof. Charity Akuadi Okonkwo and her staff, who led them to assess and inspect the facilities at the Centre.
While enjoying the privilege extended to staff by the Pro-Chancellor, they took turns to reel out some challenges of the Centre, such as sinkhole, uncompleted laboratory, solar panel issues, repair of Centre's vehicle among others.
While applauding the Centre Director, and staff for the growth of the Centre, Yuguda also stated that education is the key for development and NOUN stand out in providing access to quality education to Nigerian who seek knowledge.
The NOUN Governing Council Chair added that NOUN is competing favourably and even better than other Federal universities however called on the leadership of this country to invest heavily in supporting Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode of instructional delivery as champion by NOUN.
He charged staff to avoid cutting corners, adding that it is high time we imbibed culture of character and doing things right for the overall benefit of the University.
In a swift response, the Centre Director, Okonkwo, expressed gratitude for the visit and described Yuguda as" the one who God has made a king and no man can take the honour from him".
She added that staff will continue to ensure its effective and efficient service delivery.
