A two-man delegation from the National Open University of Nigeria's Learner Support Unit for Special Needs has paid a one-day working visit to the Federal College of Education, Oyo.
The visit was aimed at having hands-on experience on global best practice support to learners with special needs.
According to the Head, Special Needs Unit, Christie Uzoukwu, the thrust of the visit was to understudy areas of use of assistive technology for learners with special needs.
The delegation equally sought to discover how the learner with visual impairment can be trained to use the computer keyboards effectively.
They also toured the facilities on ground at FCES Oyo.
As part of the working visit, Dr. Oluokun, the Dean, School of Special Education, Oyo, and her staff took the NOUN team on a tour of their facilities as well emphasised the importance of assistive technology in supporting learners with special needs.
"With these technologies in place learning will become seamless for these categories of learners" she added.
It would be recalled that the NOUN Learner Support for Needs Unit was created in March 2024, with the main aim of supporting and assisting the visually impaired students of the university.
