The Management of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has expressed its willingness to partner with the management of Uyo Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) on outreach and awareness creation programmes of the university.
Mrs. Alice Ugbe, General Manager, NTA, Uyo, made this known during her familiarisation visit to the the Centre Director, Uyo Study Centre, Associate Prof. Edwin Bassey, in his office on Friday, February 28, 2025.
Ugbe expressed delight over Bassey's style of leadership and various innovations his team have introduced since his resumption of office as Uyo Study Centre Director.
She said that the Centre Director's style of leadership was quite stimulating and inviting hence her organisation's willingness to work with the study centre to sensitise the public on the activities and programmes of the university.
Ugbe thanked the management and staff of the study centre for a warm welcome accorded her and promised to work with the university for the benefit of Akwa Ibom people and the generality of the Nigerian citizens.
Bassey, who accorded the Media Chief a warm welcome, commended her for the support, effective information dissemination and projecting the image of the state and the country at large positively to the viewing world.
He seized the opportunity afforded by the visit to brief Ugbe on the university's operations and opportunities available to the teeming Nigerian population of learners to access world class education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
"Our programmes are opened to eligible candidates including secondary school leavers as well as private and public sector workers," Bassey said, adding that the programmes and courses of the university were accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and relevant professional bodies.
"We make education easy, accessible, affordable and reliable with high class facilities to aid the students in their studies," he said.
Bassey opined that the flexible mode of instructional delivery offered by the university and the presence of its study centres across all 36 states of the country as well as the Federal Capital Territory and some rural communities has made NOUN the university to beat in terms of spread, access and grassroot reach.
He called on qualified Nigerians to take advantage of NOUN's unique mode of operations to register and pursue their chosen programmes in a university where strikes do not disrupt academic calendars.
