Acting Director, Wukari Community Study Centre, Taraba State, Dr. Bitrus Wada, has led members of staff to the palace of His Royal Highness, Emir of Idi, Alhaji Abubakar S. Danbawuro III, to further extend the advocacy of the university to the doorstep of the community.
Wada, who was given the privilege to showcase NOUN activities and programmes, used the opportunity to reaffirm the university's mandate in taking higher education to the people's doorsteps.
The acting director briefed the emir on the establishment of the university and took time off to explain the advantages of enrolling in NOUN, its flexibility and programmes.
He informed the monarch that NOUN’s ODL mode of education was designed to cater for educational needs of people from diverse background irrespective of age, gender, or location.
Wada added that the mission of the university is to make higher education accessible, affordable, and credible.
On his remarks, the emir thanked the acting director and the NOUN staff for the advocacy visit and said that having listened to the explanation by the director, he has become more enlightened on the activities and programmes of the university.
He assured the advocacy team that the message will be passed across his wards and subjects and also advised the team to continue with the enlightenment campaign to to other organisations to intimate them on the activities of NOUN in the area.
After series of questions from the emir and his people on the NOUN various programmes, which the director duly answered, he presented some publications of the university to the monarch for a better understanding of how NOUN operates.
The advocacy team also called on Ibi General Hospital, where it informed the staff about the modus operandi and opportunities that abound at their doorsteps in the National Open University of Nigeria.
