
The Director, Special Study Centre for the Nigerian Police Force, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Dei-Dei Abuja, Prof. Samson S. Afolabi, has charged the newly-admitted students of the centre to make sure they get only correct information from the centre.
Afolabi emphasised the importance of obtaining accurate information directly from the centre to prevent misinformation regarding university’s activities and academic matters.
He said this during the orientation ceremony for freshmen in the centre to ensure that they have the best experience while studying with NOUN.
The orientation ceremony was held to welcome and guide fresh students of NOUN and the session focused on providing essential information to ensure students have a successful academic journey.
He urged students to utilise official communication channels and seek assistance when necessary.

The director said NOUN, as an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution, provides flexible and accessible quality education, and offers a broad spectrum of undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programsme, and supports self-paced learning for individuals with work, family or other commitments.
"The university promotes equity and quality in higher education, expands access to university education across Nigeria, and fosters a culture of lifelong learning through ICT-enabled resources and alsoprovides flexible, affordable, and qualitative education," he said.
The director called on them to stay organised and utilise the NOUN online portal effectively, maintain proactive communication with centre counselors and desk officers.
He appealed to them to uphold academic integrity; as cheating and misconduct will not be tolerated and will be addressed as per examination rules.

Mrs. Modupe Adesina, the coordinator for special study centres, on her part, congratulated the new students and commended the conducive learning environment of the centre.
Adesina encouraged the new students to be dedicated to their studies for a fulfilling university experience.
