Leadership change at Makurdi Study Centre as Ikpe succeeds Sai

A new leadership era has begun at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) Makurdi Study Centre in Benue State, following the official handover of leadership from Dr. Sai Peverga Iorvaa to Dr. Adoga Peter Ikpe.


The transition ceremony took place at the centre on May 4, 2026, where Dr. Ikpe formally assumed office as Acting Director of the Makurdi Study Centre.


The event, attended by members of staff and other stakeholders, marked the conclusion of Dr. Sai’s tenure and the commencement of a new phase of administration under Dr. Ikpe’s leadership.


In his farewell remarks, Dr. Sai expressed appreciation to members of staff for their support, dedication, and cooperation throughout his time in office. He urged them to extend the same commitment and loyalty to his successor in order to sustain and build on the progress already achieved at the centre.

He further encouraged staff members to focus on the vision and strengths of the incoming director rather than his human limitations, stressing that unity, teamwork, and collaboration remain vital to the continued growth and success of the study centre.


Responding, Dr. Ikpe commended Dr. Sai for his exemplary leadership and invaluable contributions to the development of the centre. He pledged to consolidate on the existing achievements and reposition the centre for improved, timely, and accessible service delivery to both students and staff.


The new Acting Director also expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor of NOUN, Prof. Uduma Oji Uduma, for the confidence reposed in him through the appointment.


Speaking on behalf of the staff, Mr. Cephas Mtomga praised the outgoing director for his service and dedication, while wishing him success in his future endeavours.


The ceremony ended on a cordial and optimistic note, with staff expressing confidence in continued growth, stability, and improved service delivery under the new leadership at the Makurdi Study Centre.
