The Coordinator of the Uyo Conference Marking Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Augustine Ukwueze, has stated that despite the slow start to the conference marking exercise in Uyo, significant progress is now being recorded at the centre.

Speaking with NOUN News, Ukwueze explained that the initial setback experienced at the centre resulted from the withdrawal of several examiners after the conditions for participation were communicated to them.

"When we presented the conditions for participation to the examiners, many of them opted out. As a result, the exercise commenced slowly, but we are now making steady progress," he said.

He added that efforts were ongoing to engage additional examiners in order to strengthen the exercise and ensure its timely completion.

The conference marking exercise, currently taking place at the Uyo Study Centre in Akwa Ibom State, has brought together examiners and facilitators who are actively involved in the assessment and marking of students’ examination scripts in accordance with NOUN’s established guidelines and standards.

Welcoming the guest scholars and participants to the centre, the Director of the Uyo Study Centre, Associate Professor Edwin Bassey, conveyed the goodwill of the centre's management and staff to the coordinating team and all examiners participating in the exercise.

Bassey commended the participants for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the successful conduct of the exercise. He also assured them of the centre’s full support throughout the marking process.

According to him, both he and members of staff of the study centre remain available to provide the necessary assistance required to ensure a smooth and successful conference marking exercise.
