A solemn memorial procession was held in Kaduna on Wednesday in honour of the late Bursar of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Malam Nasiru Marafa, who died on September 6, 2026.
The procession, organised to mourn the university’s loss, sympathise with the bereaved family and honour the late Bursar’s life of dedicated service, was led by the Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Nda E. Mundi, and the Centre Director, Kaduna Study Centre, Professor Andrew Agbon.
Also present were the Head of Administration, Kaduna Study Centre, Hajiya Fatima Yakubu, and the Head of Administration, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Mrs Tinam Baba.
Staff members from the Kaduna Study Centre, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and the Centre for Human Resource Development (CHRD) also participated in the procession, demonstrating solidarity and respect for the late university administrator.
In his remarks, Professor Mundi described Marafa as a dedicated, humble and diligent officer whose contributions to the growth of NOUN and the welfare of staff would remain indelible.
“He was a man of integrity, professionalism, and quiet strength. These qualities earned him the respect and admiration of all who worked with him,” Mundi said.
The Dean prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and asked Almighty Allah to grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Also speaking, Professor Agbon described the late Bursar as “a pillar of service and an example of dedication,” urging staff to uphold the values for which he was known.
He extended heartfelt condolences, on behalf of the Kaduna Study Centre Community, to the NOUN Community and the family of Malam Nasiru Marafa, while praying for the repose of his soul.
