The Students Consultative Forum (NSCF) of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Gombe Study Centre, has pledged to strengthen communication between students and the university management to promote effective representation and improve service delivery.
The President of the Forum, Promise Moses, gave the assurance during a familiarisation visit to the Centre Director, Dr. Adamu Bappah, where she introduced members of the Forum and outlined their vision and priorities for their one-year tenure.
Moses said the forum was committed to bridging the communication gap between students and university management while ensuring that students' interests and concerns receive adequate attention.
As part of efforts to enhance the forum's visibility and accessibility, she disclosed that the representatives had produced flyers and a flex banner bearing their names, positions, and photographs, along with information about the Forum and its core values.
She also highlighted some of the challenges confronting the representatives, particularly the long distances some members travel to participate in the forum's activities.
The NSCF president expressed appreciation to Dr. Bappah for approving the creation of a general WhatsApp group for students, describing the platform as an important channel for improving communication, information sharing and engagement within the study centre.
In his response, Dr. Bappah commended the representatives for their dedication, sacrifices and encouraging start, expressing confidence in their ability to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
He urged them to remain patient, professional, and committed to students' interests, stressing the importance of responsible leadership and effective representation.
The Centre Director assured the forum of his continued support, guidance and cooperation, encouraging members to approach him whenever they needed assistance or clarification.
He expressed optimism that the forum would make meaningful contributions to the development of the study centre and leave a lasting legacy through its service to the student community.
