The Law Students Association (LAWSA), National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Lagos State Chapter, has organised a one-day legal skills acquisition training for its members.

The seminar, which was held on Thursday, 9th September 2021 at the McCarthy Study Centre in Lagos, had the topic: "The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Litigation: Demystifying Artificial Intelligence to the Automated Legal System,” delivered by the guest speaker, Mr. Silk Chuba.

Chuba, who explained that every law firm should have a legal software, told the participants that "Law is dynamic and all should embrace the changes that come with practicing the profession."

He emphasised on the importance of legal technology and its application on business practical, tutorials and research work, which is paramount in the 21st Century.

The guest speaker encouraged the students not to rely on paperwork only but to make use of online resources such as legal articles, other relevant materials and tools, even as he listed some legal applications that would enhance their knowledge and skills as students and future legal practitioners.

On his part, the centre director, Prof. Rotimi Ogidan, urged the students to embrace the online technology and work beyond the study materials provided by the school, charging them to focus on the practices of judicial systems not just in Nigeria but outside the country as well.

The students' counsellor, Mrs. Mark Bereh, in her goodwill message, applauded the guest speaker for sharing his wealth of knowledge to the students at the seminar, which was followed by certificates presentation to the participants.

The LAWSA President, Lagos Chapter, Comrade Onadeko Damilola Edward expressed his appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Femi Peters and the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Ernest Ugbejeh for their efforts in ensuring that NOUN law graduates can now attend the Nigerian Law School.
