A Visiting Professor at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) and distinguished retired jurist, Hon. Justice (Prof.) Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye, is set to launch an educational foundation aimed at supporting brilliant but indigent students across Nigeria.
The foundation will be formally inaugurated on July 2, 2026, during the public presentation of two new books on electronic evidence at the International Conference Centre, NOUN Headquarters, Jabi, Abuja.
The event scheduled to commence at 2:00 p.m., will have Justice Ajileye unveiled two publications: "Electronic Evidence (Second Edition," 2026) and "A Compendium of Cases on Electronic Evidence, Volume II" (2020–2025)—both of which are considered significant contributions to legal scholarship and the evolving jurisprudence of electronic evidence in Nigeria.
The books provide updated analyses, contemporary judicial authorities and practical guidance on the growing role of technology, digital transactions, online communications and electronically generated materials in legal practice and the administration of justice.
The highlight of the occasion, however, will be the inauguration of the Justice Alaba Omolaye-Ajileye Educational Foundation, established to provide scholarships, mentorship and educational support to academically gifted students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The initiative reflects Justice Ajileye's lifelong commitment to education, public service and youth development. Inspired by his personal journey of perseverance and academic excellence, the retired jurist seeks to create opportunities for young Nigerians whose educational aspirations are hindered by financial constraints.
The foundation is expected to expand access to quality education and enable deserving students to realise their full academic potential.
Adding intellectual depth to the event, former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Kanu Godwin Agabi, SAN, CON, will deliver the keynote address titled, "The State of the Nation."
The presentation will focus on contemporary challenges confronting Nigeria's democracy, justice system, economy, security and national development.
The event is expected to attract judges, senior lawyers, academics, policymakers, law enforcement officers, technology experts, students, philanthropists and other stakeholders with interests in law, technology and justice administration.
Members of the public, educational institutions, professional bodies, development partners and corporate organisations have been invited to support the foundation's vision and participate in what organisers describe as a landmark gathering that combines legal scholarship with educational philanthropy.
Beyond celebrating intellectual achievement, the occasion is also expected to provide a platform for meaningful discussions on Nigeria's present realities and future aspirations.
