The Management of the Special Study Centre, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Garki, Abuja, has held a 1-day workshop for its students.
The workshop was aimed at strengthening and adequately preparing the students for seminar cum projects/research defense,
It was an interactive session with the students to put them through real and concrete examples, provide practical understanding, and to encourage them to ask questions and share any concerns after the presentation.
The Acting Director, Dr. Paul Ifeanyi, who was the resource person at the workshop, discussed the rudiments of selecting research topics, writing, and project presentation.

The director informed them that the project presentation offers researcher the opportunity to establish a scholarship of his or her work, share an experiment conducted, and demonstrate the quality, validity and relevance of the research.
He added that such academic harvest is oftentimes given little or no attention due to poor preparations, anxiety, lack of confidence among others on the part of the students.
While encouraging them to be original in their write up and avoid plagiarism, he emphasised that project writing is an exciting exercise when carried out appropriately, as the researcher shares the final results without any fear of contradictions.
After detailed explanations, the students were given an opportunity to ask questions and express their concerns, which were addressed by the director.
A vote of thanks was given by the representative of the students, who expressed his profound gratitude, and stated that the knowledge gained in the symposium would go a long way to boost their confidence in the project or seminar presentation.
The workshop rounded up with a free take home textbook donated to the students.
