The Bursar, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Mallam Nasir G. Marafa, has monitored the ongoing 2023_1 e-examination at the Kaduna Study Centre and the Nigerian Air Force Special Study Centre, Kaduna.
The NAF centre was his first point of call for the monitoring exercise, where he was welcomed by director of the centre, Prof. Nda E. Mundi.
Shortly after monitoring how the centre was handling the exercise, the bursar, accompanied by the centre director, engaged on facility inspection.
The director, thereafter, thanked the university management for its support to the centre and underlined the importance of monitoring the exercise, which encourages them to keep up with the expectations as well as maintain standard.
Mundi, therefore, appealed to the university management to assist in areas of infrastructure, notwithstanding the centre’s “gigantic effort” in reaching out to the authorities of the Nigerian Air Force for their intervention.
Shortly after, Marafa proceeded to the Kaduna Study Centre for similar exercise where he was received by the centre director, Mr. Yusuf Abdullahi and the Head of Administration of the centre, Hajiya Fati Yakubu.
He monitored the conduct of the 11am session as well as the 2pm session of the examination at the centre.
The bursar was then taken on a tour of the facilities, where he visited the offices, library, store and, later, held discussions with the centre's head.
In another related development, the bursar has visited the Conference Marking Centre for the North-west, holding also at the Kaduna campus of the university to ascertain the success of the exercise.
In a chat with the representative of the Directorate of Examination and Assessment, Mr. Hassan Abdulmumin, NOUN News learned that the exercise has been a success, as scripts have since been marked, packed, loaded and transported to the university headquarters for safe keeping.
At the end of his visit, the bursar told NOUN News that he was delighted with the conduct of the exercise at both centres.
The spacing, orderliness and the measures taken by the centres to ensure smooth conduct of the examination were highly commendable, said Marafa.
He urged the management and staff of both centres to ensure that all the rules and regulations governing the conduct of the examination were strictly followed so as to maintain the set standard.
Marafa also assured the centres that all areas of interest that need attention were recorded and shall be presented to the management for further action.
