LAWSA appoints new heads of chambers

Newly appointed Heads of Chambers and Deputies of the Executive Council, Law Students' Association (LAWSA) of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Lagos State Chapter, on Tuesday, 28 September 2021 have been inaugurated by the President of the association, Hon. Onadeko Damilola Edwards.

The ceremony, which took place at the Lagos Study Centre of the university, was also witnessed by the honourable members of the executive council where the gathering also reviewed other judicial matters relating to the body.

They converged at the centre to observe the Chief Judge of the LAWSA, Hon. Justice Oladimeji Akande administer the oath of office to the new appointees.

Amongst the appointees are the first female Attorney General of LAWSA, Abiola Badaru, Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Gbenga Ebitiga, Chief Registrar, Justina Ibe and other heads of chambers and their deputies.

Speaking during the inauguration, Edwards averred that all members of the executive council, members of the judiciary and all law students are required to appear fit and proper always.

He appreciated the Dean, Faculty of Law, Dr. Ernerst Ugbejeh, the Lagos Study Centre Director, Dr. Alero Akujobi and other members in the centre for their inspiring and unwavering support accorded him, which, he said, have all been exceptional.

On her part, the centre director, emphasised on the essentials and the benefits of mooting for law students, urging the students to focus on their studies get engaged in the online facilitation classes.

''Obtaining a law degree requires self-denial and sacrifice on the part of the students. Law students who stay focused, hardworking and hold the lectures in high esteem await glorious days,'' she added.

In the question and answer session, the students seized the opportunity to ask different questions about their interests, NOUN and other issues, which were attended to by the centre director.

At the end of the event, the executive committee presented a customized souvenir to the centre director.
