Hands-on practical sessions for students of the Faculty of Sciences of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) have commenced at the Uyo Study Centre, Akwa Ibom State.
The 2026_2 practical exercise began on Monday, September 14, 2026, bringing together students from various NOUN Study Centres across the South-South Zone.
The sessions provide students with practical exposure in line with the requirements of their respective academic programmes and courses, complementing the theoretical knowledge acquired through their studies.
The exercise also enables students to engage directly with relevant scientific concepts, techniques and procedures under appropriate academic and laboratory guidance.
Resource persons facilitating the sessions include Dr. Kokoete Essenowo and Mrs. Josiah Umoh for Biology; Dr. Mfoniso Aka for Physics; and Dr. Dodi Igobi for Mathematics.
The commencement of the practical sessions underscores NOUN’s commitment to providing students with effective teaching and learning opportunities, as well as practical experiences essential to their academic and professional development.
The Centre Director, Uyo Study Centre, Dr. Uduak Irene Aletan, expressed goodwill to the participating students and wished them productive, engaging and successful practical sessions.
The 2026_2 Faculty of Sciences practical exercise is expected to strengthen students’ practical competencies and deepen their understanding of key scientific concepts through direct laboratory and academic experience.
