The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has intensified its public engagement and enrolment drive with a major advocacy campaign at the 21st Abuja International Trade Fair.
The initiative, led by the Directorate of Media and Publicity, is aimed at showcasing the university’s academic programmes and unique Open and Distance Learning (ODL) model to prospective students, parents and other stakeholders.
The annual trade fair, organised by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), is holding at the Abuja International Trade Fair Complex from September 25 to October 6, 2026.
Operating from the ACCI Pavilion, Booth 43, the Directorate’s team is engaging visitors on NOUN’s programmes, admission requirements and flexible learning opportunities, while also providing on-the-spot registration services for prospective students.
Speaking on the university’s participation, the Ag. Director, Media and Publicity, Mrs. Omotola Ojudu, said the advocacy campaign was part of ongoing efforts by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Uduma Oji Uduma, to increase NOUN’s visibility, widen access to higher education and attract more learners through sustained public engagement.
Ojudu said the Directorate, as the university’s image-making and information management hub, was leveraging the trade fair to promote awareness of NOUN’s programmes and services while providing accurate information to prospective learners.
She added that the platform was also an opportunity to highlight the advantages of NOUN’s learner-centred ODL system, which enables students to pursue university education from anywhere and at their own pace without necessarily disrupting their work, family or other commitments.
The Director expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for approving the Directorate’s participation in the trade fair, expressing optimism that the initiative would contribute positively to the university’s enrolment and visibility objectives.
She also encouraged members of staff to invite their friends, families and associates to visit the NOUN stand at Booth 43, ACCI Pavilion, to make enquiries, obtain admission information and register for their preferred programmes.
The participation is part of NOUN’s broader efforts to bring information about its flexible and accessible university education closer to prospective learners across the country.
