The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Bauchi Study Centre, is seeking media collaboration with Zamani TV to expand public awareness of its academic programmes and promote access to higher education across Bauchi State and neighbouring communities.

The Centre Director, Dr. Habibu Tijjani, led a delegation of university officials on a courtesy visit to the Managing Director of Zamani TV, Ambassador Hafeez Wakili, where both parties discussed opportunities to promote NOUN’s academic programmes and educational opportunities through the television station’s media platforms.

In response, Wakili expressed the station’s readiness to collaborate with NOUN in publicising its programmes and enlightening the public about the opportunities available through open and distance learning.

Demonstrating his commitment to the proposed partnership, he offered the university two free airtime slots to publicise its programmes and activities.

He further assured the delegation of Zamani TV’s willingness to support initiatives to reach young people and encourage them to pursue higher education.

Speaking during the visit, the Principal Assistant Registrar, Mrs. Janet Tenebe, highlighted the university’s flexible admission process and wide range of academic programmes.

She explained that prospective students could gain admission into NOUN without sitting for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, provided they met the university’s admission requirements.

Tenebe also noted that NOUN’s open and distance learning (ODL) system enables students to pursue their studies without the disruptions caused by industrial strikes at conventional universities.

She added that the flexible learning model allows students to combine their education with work and other personal responsibilities.

Earlier, Tijjani said the visit aimed to establish a mutually beneficial relationship with Zamani TV to reach a wider audience, particularly young people seeking admission to higher institutions.

He highlighted the potential of the station’s media platforms, including live interviews, to disseminate information about NOUN’s admission opportunities, academic programmes and other university activities.

The proposed collaboration is expected to strengthen public engagement, broaden awareness of the university’s educational offerings and encourage more prospective students in Bauchi State and its environs to explore opportunities for higher education through NOUN.
