VC unveils four new Faculty of Sciences laboratories


The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, has unveiled four new laboratories of the Faculty of Sciences.

The laboratories are for chemistry, biology, physics and software, located at the Faculty of Sciences block, NOUN headquarters, Abuja.

While commissioning the laboratories, the outgoing VC described the event as a dream come true for the faculty, as, according to him, the new laboratories will improve the scientific spirit of the staff.

Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, has urged politicians at state and national levels to use their constituency budgets to attract the setting of a study centre at their localities.

Adamu stated this at the inauguration of two community study centres built by the Asaga-Ohafia Development Union (ADU), Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State and Isulo Development Union in Anambra State.

Students enrolment underscored as VC commissions Isua, Kishi Community Study Centres


As the university continues to witness an unprecedented level of expansion through the launching of new study centres across the country, the need to ensure a steady growth of enrolment in the new centres was emphasized.

This call was made by the NOUN Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, at the commissioning of two new community study centres at Isua of Ondo State as well as Kishi of Oyo State.

COL commends outgoing NOUN VC for 'expanding access to education' 


The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) has described the leadership of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) as one that expanded access to education. 

The Canada-based COL is the world's only intergovernmental organisation solely concerned with the promotion and development of distance education and open learning.

NOUN holds second virtual Inaugural Lecture


The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) will on Monday hold its 17th Inaugural Lecture, the second to be held virtually due to the Covid-19 impacts. 

The lecture, to be presented by Prof. Samaila Mande, who is the Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, follows a similar one held a fortnight ago by Prof. Olufemi A. Peters, which was streamed live on various platforms. 

Mande's lecture has the topic: "Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC), and Risk Communication Tools for Managing the Covid-19 Health Emergency in Nigeria: What a Synergy?"

9th and 10th convocation: 18 inmates graduate from NOUN, NCoS says


The National Open University of Nigeria Corrections Special Study Centres, have successfully graduated 18 inmates with various degree certificates, the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) has said.

Spokesperson of the service, Controller of Corrections, Mr. Francis Enobore, who stated this in a statement on Thursday, explained that the Ag. Controller General, NCoS, Mr John Mrabure, has congratulated the graduands.
