The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Humanitarian Studies and Social Development (IHSSD), Professor Francis Origa, has commended the Vice-Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Professor Uduma Oji Uduma, for his outstanding contributions to academic excellence and national development.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Origa disclosed that the Institute and its Governing Council had unanimously resolved to honour Professor Uduma at its forthcoming 16th Annual Humanitarian Public Lecture and Induction Ceremony of Trained Professional Humanitarians, scheduled to hold in Abuja.
According to him, the Vice-Chancellor will not only be recognised for his contributions to higher education but will also serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the event.
Professor Origa explained that the Institute is committed to bridging capacity gaps within the humanitarian and non-profit sectors through training, research and professional development programmes.
He noted that the Institute collaborates with several government agencies and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the area of humanitarian training and capacity building.
He further expressed the Institute's desire to establish a strategic partnership with NOUN, particularly in areas of training, research and community development initiatives.
Responding, Professor Uduma expressed appreciation for the recognition but noted that awards are personal matters that should not overshadow the broader objective of institutional collaboration.
He stressed the importance of building sustainable partnerships between both institutions and expressed optimism that such collaboration would yield significant benefits for the organisations and the nation at large.
The Vice-Chancellor thanked the Institute for the visit and assured its representatives of NOUN's willingness to explore mutually beneficial areas of cooperation.
In his vote of thanks, the University Registrar, Mr. Oladipo Ajayi, expressed gratitude to the delegation for the visit and for the commendations extended to the university's management and staff.
He reiterated NOUN's commitment to fostering partnerships that advance education, humanitarian service and national development.
