Kaduna Study Centre, Faculty of Agric ready for NUC accreditation exercise

The National Open University of Nigeria's Kaduna Study Centre is expected to host the National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation team on Monday, November 14, 2022.

According to the director of the centre, Mr. Yusuf  Abdullahi in an interview with NOUN News, the accreditation exercise would come in two phases: on 14 and 27 of November.

He also stated that the centre is fully prepared to a very large extent to host the exercise

The programmes affected in the first phase of the accreditation are Islamic and Arabic Studies from the Faculty of Arts, while Human Kinetics, Health Education, and Agricultural Education from the Faculty of Education making the number of the programmes to be five, said Abdullahi. 

The second phase, which is also expected to come up on November 27, 2022 would affect only Agricultural Extension and Management from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. 

On his part, the Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Ahmed NJidda narrated that the NUC accreditation exercise it an activity that is done every five years. 

This is to ensure all programmes do not go below the expected National Universities Commission’s benchmark. 

Moreover, it is to ensure that all the university programmes do not drop below the academic standard of the regulatory body (NUC),” he said. 

So far, the dean stated, the faculty has one programme to undergo the exercise which is Agricultural Economics and Extension. 

Therefore, the faculty is fully prepared to the best of our ability,” said NJidda.
