The South-south Incubation Zone of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and General Studies (CE&GS) of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), is set to host a 5-day exhibition week in the last week of October 2021 for young entrepreneurs being incubated at the centre.
The event with the theme, “Rediscovering and Exploring the Human Capital Potentials of the Nigerian Youths for Economic Growth and Development,” is slated to hold at the premises of the Uyo Study Centre, Udo Udoma Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, where CE&GS is housed.
To achieve this, the coordinator of the South-south Incubation Zone, Dr. Helen Bassey Inyang, recently led some senior members of staff of her centre to a meeting with the Akwa Ibom State government.
The meeting, which took place at the office of the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Akwa Ibom State, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet, who represented the state governor, Deacon Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, was initiated by Inyang to sell the idea of the exhibition week to the state government.
It was also to request the attendance of the state governor and the commissioner at the event, praying also that the government of Akwa Ibom State picks up the bills of some of the needs of the incubation centre.
Inyang also requested the state government to provide a bus for the centre to ease mobility, procure starter packs and provide start up capitals for successful incubatees, as well as providing computers and computer network equipment for the centre.
Other things requested by the coordinator were relocation of the incubation centre away from the study centre to a location with larger space, provision of land for the practical aspect of agricultural and agro-based capacity development, as well as donation of modern agricultural equipment and funds for commencement of agricultural and agro-based capacity development scheme.
