The National Open University of Nigeria Alumni Association (NOUNAA), Rivers State Chapter, on Friday, May 17, 2024, donated a 10KVA Firman power generator to the management of Port Harcourt Study Centre.

The Chairman, NOUNAA, Rivers State Chapter, Mr. Joseph Fubara, in his handover remarks said that his association thought it necessary to intervene when they realised that the only petrol generator at the centre had broken down, thus impeding smooth service delivery whenever there was no public power supply.

Fubara said that NOUNAA was committed to making selfless contributions towards the progress of the university.

He expressed his delight, on behalf of his association, in having a centre director who shows genuine interest in the affairs of the alumni body.

Fubara said that NOUNAA, Rivers State Chapter, would count so much on the director to guide the association to know the areas of need of the study centre and how they may help out.

The Centre Director, Dr. Theresa Ettu, while receiving the donation, thanked the association for their selflessness in giving back to the development of the university.

She sensitised the executive committee of the association on ways to make their presence felt in the state and nationally.

Areas mentioned by the director for possible consideration by the association include a sit-out park for students, tree planting, restaurant and facility repairs.

Ettu also urged the association to be visible on occasions like the university convocation and matriculation ceremonies to boost publicity and enhance advocacy.

Other NOUNAA executive committee members present at the brief ceremony were Mr. Godson Emerenini, Vice-Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Okon Etim, General Secretary and Ms. Patience Effiong, Welfare Officer.
