The Director of the Enugu Study Centre, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Professor Loveth Ekwueme, has reaffirmed that a clean environment is essential to sustaining the university's pursuit of excellence.
Ekwueme made the remark after a one-day environmental sanitation exercise held at the study centre on Saturday, July 18, 2026, commending staff for their enthusiastic participation.
She expressed satisfaction with the commitment shown by staff across the centre's various units, describing cleanliness as a shared responsibility that promotes a healthier, safer and more conducive environment for teaching, learning and service delivery.
The Professor of Information and Library Science explained that the sanitation exercise was organised to maintain a decent and hygienic campus that supports academic excellence and enhances the overall learning experience.
According to her, the initiative reflects the study centre's leadership and the university management's commitment to fostering a culture of cleanliness, discipline and collective responsibility among staff.
Ekwueme added that maintaining a clean environment would not only improve the well-being of staff and students but also create a welcoming atmosphere for stakeholders and visitors, while reinforcing NOUN's commitment to excellence.
